If you are interested in paddling with us but don’t have a kayak, some paddles have
rentals at the site. Ask the paddle leader.
Otherwise, you can rent a kayak and have it dropped at the paddle site. See “Other
Links”page for rental companies.
THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!!
WHEN RSVPing TO A PADDLE, PLEASE RESPOND TO THE EMAIL FOR THE LEADER, NOT PGIPADDLERSCLUB@GMAIL.COM.
This makes more work for our communications department. AGAIN---DO NOT REPLY TO
THE EMAIL. SEND A NEW MAIL WITH NAME, EMAIL, PHONE AND # OF PADDLERS TO THE LEADER
OF THE PADDLE or FOLLOW THE LINK FROM THE WEBSITE.
Tuesday MORNING PADDLE
In the effort to get out on the water more frequently, the Paddlers are initiating
Tuesday Morning Paddles. This paddle will be held on the second Tuesday of the month---the
Tuesday following the club's Happy Hour. The launch site will be chosen at that time.
The paddle will have NO designated leader, NO need to RSVP, with NO planned lunch
following the paddle. Just show-up at the designated time.

See you on the water!

IN THE NEWS
Thank you to those of you who helped with the Home Tour. Next year's tour will be
February 3 - so mark your calendars and volunteer for this worthwhile event. We
will again be working with Paradise Friends in manning a home. Volunteers will be
able to preview all the homes on Feb 2.
PGI PADDLERS works because of the great volunteers we have doing special jobs. Colleen
Kostrzeski is our WEBmaster. Visit pgikayakers.org for information on club activities
and a gallery of photos. Dianne Tufts broadcasts all our emails and sends out welcome
information to new members. Mark Storm orders club name tags.
Thank you to Cathy Engimann for all of your hard work in keeping this club together.
She is our liaison to the PGICA, submits the information for the Commentator every
month and is diligent in getting people to lead paddles so the club remains a club.
PGI Paddlers works without officers and dues because so may people are willing to
do their part. The club has many new members this winter--kayaking is a great sport
for all ages. We are so lucky to have so much "skinny" water to explore.
PADDLE PUNTA GORDA 2017 will be November 18.
Team Punta Gorda is expanding the number of launch sites to accommodate more participation.
If you feel that you are experienced enough to take the lead for Shell Creek, Ponce
Tunnels, or Riverside Park(Shell Creek), please let me know. Each site will have
20 paddlers, 2 guides and hopefully 2 naturalist.
Many of us are heading north soon. But for those of you who call PGI your year around
home, Paddlers will continue to meet for Happy Hour the first Monday of each month.
Last year summer Happy Hours met at the Wyvern (air conditioned and inside), but
the sports bar is undergoing renovations this year. Scotties in Fisherman's Village
has been suggested as the summer site. So please refer to the broadcast email for
